[ Preliminary Jury Statement ]
A total of 952 films were submitted to the 4th Tongyeong International Film Festival.
Through this preliminary review, we encountered 952 films — and the 952 distinct worlds held within them.
Knowing that countless hours, deep reflection, and an intense creative process go into completing a single film, we express our sincere respect for the heart and dedication of every filmmaker behind these works.
We looked closely at films that fully embrace the appeal of cinema as a visual medium while gazing deeply into the human being and the inner life. The films advancing to the main competition were grouped according to the colors and directions that TIFF pursues — T-RED, T-BLUE, and T-GREEN.
After much reflection and discussion, we have chosen, as our final selection for the main competition, the works we most wish to share with audiences at the 4th Tongyeong International Film Festival.
Our heartfelt thanks go to all 952 directors and filmmakers who entrusted us with their precious perspectives and stories.
In Tongyeong, a city of the wider sea, we look forward to meeting even deeper films.
We look forward to seeing you at the 4th Tongyeong International Film Festival.
Preliminary Jury: Im Hye-young (Film Director), Choi Jong-hyun (Film Director), Kim Min-jae (Director, Media Center Tomorrow)
