Cool Gift

On a summer day marked by relentless, record-breaking heatwaves, Cheol-i, an elementary school student, accompanies his grandmother to the local senior center, only to discover that the air conditioner is broken. Learning that the center cannot even afford a new one, Cheol-i desperately wants to get an air conditioner for them somehow. While walking down the street, he happens to find a flyer reading "Emergency Loans." After asking a friend, "Do loan sharks actually lend money?", Cheol-i makes a determined decision and visits the loan-shark agency listed on the flyer.

Opening the door is a young customer who is far too young to take out a loan. After listening to Cheol-i’s story, the boss heads to an electronics store, and a few days later, an air conditioner installation truck arrives in front of the senior center. Amid the scorching heat, a small act of kindness centered around a single air conditioner transforms the place into an unexpected cool sanctuary where everyone smiles together. The story draws to a close with Cheol-i’s bright smile.
